I drive from a wheelchair and so I need a van to get around.I listen to mostly rock music and had a nice Pioneer subwoofer in a custom made box I bought from Circuit City about 14 years ago. (it was made for someone else and they decided they didn't want it, so I got a deal on it)Anyway, my old van was fullsize and when I bought a new minivan, the custom box was too big to fit behind the rear seat.I also forgot to get my old amp out of my old van, but it was pretty cheap, so I didn't really care.I decided to look for an inexpensive subwoofer and amp to go in my new minivan and bought this MTX package.
I had it installed and I was really disappointed. The subwoofer was so muddy and sounded distorted.I made all the adjustments I could on the amp and head unit, but the speaker just didn't have a good response. The bass drum and bass guitar sound just got swallowed up in noise.I didn't know if it was the speaker, the box, the amp, or all three.I got my brother-in-law to put my old Pioneer sub in the new box.Same amp and setup. It made a world of difference. The Pioneer speaker has a nice, crisp sound and is very tight. So, I do not recommend this subwoofer at all!The amp is working great with the Pioneer speaker.I'm sure MTX makes decent products in their higher end line, but this sub isn't good even for a starter kit.
